ELC - Mrs. Heitz
Welcome to Mrs. Heitz's Web Page
Welcome to the Educational Learning Center! This is my 11th year at SVdP and my 5th year as the Resource Teacher. I am now a half-time employee, and I will serve teachers and students in grades 7 and 8. A great deal of my time, will be spent supporting the teachers in the regular classrooms. If students need individual or small group assistance, I can work with them in the Resource room. My schedule also includes teaching a 7th grade math class, Fundamentals of Algebra.
For those of you who are not familiar with the role of a Resource Teacher, I provide services to students with special needs. I also help students who are struggling with such things as organization, study skills and note-taking. I am happy to help any student who may need assistance, not only those diagnosed with a specific learning disability.
My husband and I moved to Omaha in 2007. We have a daughter and her family living in Omaha. Our oldest son and his family live in Wakefield, NE. Another son lives in Sacramento, CA.
I received my degree from UNL and then continued my education at UNK. I have been a teacher for 35+ years: as a speech pathologist in Bassett, NE, a 5th grade teacher at O'Neill St. Mary's, a long-term substitute at O'Neill Public, a teacher associate, and now a resource teacher at St. Vincent de Paul.
