Mrs. Nigrin - Room 12

This year will mark my 24th year at St. Vincent de Paul.  I graduated from the College of St. Mary and taught Kindergarten for 6 years at St. Albert School in Council Bluffs prior to coming to St. Vincent's.  Teaching in the Catholic Schools has truly been a blessing to me as it has allowed me to be a vessel for God's love. I am very blessed to have Ms. Virginia Castle as my teacher associate.

First Grade is an exciting year as each of the students become more independent.  From having their own desk to being in charge of their folders and assignments, First Grade allows each child to grow in both their academic and social skills.  Your child will continue their adventures in reading as they learn about story elements and author purpose.  In English, we will be identifying nouns, verbs and adjectives and creating wonderful stories.  The basis for mathematics will continue with addition and subtraction facts through18 and double digit addition and subtraction along with time, money and measurement.  And as always, all of this will be centered with teaching the love and presence of God in their everyday life!

Being the teacher of your child is an honor and privilege.  Teamwork is the name of the game and I look forward to sharing your child.  Please feel free to contact me, either through e-mail or stopping in my room before or after school.  Together, we will make this a wonderful year for your child.
