I hope everyone is off to a good start this school year. If you haven't been in the habit of using the online help available for our math series, you will want to check it out. Your student can tell you how to log in and find extra practice, review for quizzes and tests, games, etc. If you need more information, I would be happy to talk to you about it.

This is a course designed to prepare students for more advanced math courses in algebra and geometry. Integer and real number operations, functions and graphing, inequalities and problem solving strategies are especially emphasized. McDougal Littell Pre-Algebra and McDougal Littell Math Course 2 are the textbooks we will use. These textbooks are designed for 7th and 8th grade level. Students and parents will be receiving information on how to access the new textbooks online.
Algebra Course Objectives
This course covers basic algebra. Depending on the math ability and placement level of the students, they will either cover the entire course or get a very thorough introduction into the skills and concepts of basic algebra. The textbook is written for 9th grade level. Special emphasis is given to polynomial operations, factoring, equations, inequalities, and problem solving strategies.
Assessments and Grading
Students will receive a grade of 100% for homework that is completed on time, has all the original problems copied, and complete work is shown. Weekly quizzes/tests will be giving every FRIDAY for 8th graders and every THURSDAY for 7th graders.
