Ms. Leisa Kolberg - Room 72

Background
Hi, Everyone. My name is Leisa Kolberg, and this is my 17th year of teaching at St. Vincent de Paul. I majored in Biology and Secondary Education. I have my Masters in Technology from Lesley University. I previously have taught seventh and eighth graders at St. Pius/St. Leo School and Holy Ghost School.

Class Info
Seventh grade science is a year of life science. We will begin the year with studying some of the the smallest forms of life—protists, monerans and fungi. From there we will progress into cell structure and function and advance into the human body and genetics. At the end of the year we will compare human and amphibian anatomy and physiology and dissect the frog. Click here for helpful sites.

Eighth graders focus on physical science. We will start out the year with the study of waves—both sound and light. Chemistry is next, focusing on basic atomic structure and chemical bonding. A unit on force and motion will finish the year. Our final activity is a rocket lab where students build, launch, and record information about their flights. Click here for helpful sites.

The seventh grade teaching assistant is Mrs. Houlihan.
