Mrs. Kleffman - Room 11

Background
Welcome to 1st Grade in Room 11!

I am Mrs. Christy Kleffman.  I received my Bachelors of Science in Education from the College of Saint Mary in 2000.  In November 2009, I achieved my National Board Teacher Certification.   This will be my 18th year of teaching, and my 15th year of service at St. Vincent de Paul.  I previously taught 3rd grade for 3 years at Spring Lake Magnet School in the Omaha Public Schools.  I made the switch to Catholic education because being able to incorporate my Catholic faith into all lessons in the classroom is a passion of mine.  I am very excited to teach in the supportive, faith based, and innovative environment of SVdP.

Another passion of mine is incorporating technology into my classroom.  1st graders in my classroom will have the opportunity to complete a variety of projects using iPads, teacher created computer activities, and the internet.  I thoroughly enjoy guiding students on the journey to becoming fluent readers.  Reading will be a main focus of our year in 1st grade!  It is my goal for every child to leave my classroom as not only a fluent reader, but as a life long lover of books.

I absolutely love teaching 1st grade!  I look forward to working with your child!
